Man United would discuss deadline day exit for West Ham-linked Jesse Lingard
West Ham do stand a chance of signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
David Moyes is interested in re-signing the 28-year-old after he impressed while on loan at the London Stadium in the second half of last season.
While Sheth reports that Lingard is looking likely to stay at Man United after the transfer deadline on Tuesday night, there is a chance the Red Devils will look into selling him if an offer is made.

“Man United are happy for Lingard to remain at Old Trafford and to stay and fight for his place,” said Sheth, as quoted on Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre on Monday [07:32pm].
“Solskjaer has been very consistent in what he’s said about him – ‘he’s part of my plans, he can play a big part for Man United this season’ and he said if it wasn’t for Covid, Lingard would have started the first Premier League game against Leeds.
“He was an unused substitute yesterday, which got tongues wagging again – does that mean he could again be on his way?
“For Lingard, his priority this whole summer was to remain at Old Trafford. We know West Ham have been long-term admirers, and why wouldn’t they be after how well he did in the second half of last season?
“David Moyes has said if Man United did allow Lingard to leave, ‘we would definitely be interested in him’. As it stands though, it looks like he’s staying, but if a late offer comes in on Deadline Day, they would discuss it with Lingard and a collective decision would be made on what is best for the player.”

Come on, West Ham
It’s been the saga of the summer.
After the way last season panned out, we all would have thought that Lingard’s permanent move to the London Stadium was a guarantee.
However, that hasn’t been the case with Man United and the player himself both changing their stances as much as the weather changed over the summer.
We haven’t been impressed with Lingard, in all honesty. Why on earth would he be happy to stay there and not play when he can be the star of the show in East London?
Man United have not treated him well in the last couple of years and the fanbase at that club doesn’t rate Lingard at all.
It’s so weird that he didn’t instantly want to join us permanently or at least join another Premier League club.
But would we still take Lingard back? Absolutely.
He was a class act for us last season and there’s every chance that he’d be a star of the show once more for Moyes at the London Stadium.
We hope a deal can be done but right now, we don’t feel so confident.
