Manchester City want to sign West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The radio station reported on its website on 9 August that the Hammers are reluctant to sell the Brazilian international to the Premier League champions after already losing Declan Rice to Arsenal.

The Irons are looking to strengthen their midfield and talkSPORT claims they are in advanced talks with Southampton as they look to sign their captain James Ward-Prowse.

Concerning

The news of Man City's interest in Paqueta will be very concerning to West Ham fans as they will absolutely not want to lose another one of their stars this summer.

It will be extremely difficult to keep hold of him, though, if the Premier League champions do come calling as it's an opportunity to play under Pep Guardiola and be in with a chance of winning major trophies.

After the Hammers forked out a reported club-record £51million to sign him from Lyon last summer, it's unlikely the Brazilian would come cheap as they would surely demand more than that price.

Although Paqueta had a slow start to his time at the London Stadium - largely down to the team's poor performances - he grew into it as the season went on and played a crucial role in the club lifting the Europa Conference League following the victory over Fiorentina.

The club simply can't afford to let the midfielder go even if we are close to bringing other players in.
