Lucas Stassin reaches transfer agreement as West Ham hold talks

West Ham are reportedly keen on securing the services of Saint-Etienne striker Lucas Stassin this summer.

Danny Ings will be leaving the Hammers and doubts persist over Michail Antonio’s future at the club, leaving a new striker transfer a priority.

Stassin, who bagged 12 goals in Ligue 1 last season, has emerged as a potential replacement for the duo.

West Ham in concrete talks to sign Stassin

According to French news outlet Team Football (27 June), Lens have an agreement to sign the 20-year-old but his future is far from decided.

West Ham have begun the most concrete of talks for Stassin as they aim to beat the competition to secure his services.

Along with the Irons, Sporting CP, Brentford, Brighton, Rennes, Marseille, Paris FC, Leipzig and Wolves are also admirers of the Belgian.

It’s understood that a deal in the region of £15million will be needed for the now Ligue 2 side to part ways with their prized asset.

Saint-Etienne have no real desire to sell him but are keen on maximising his transfer value.

Graham Potter may not be satisfied with Stassin leading the line regularly

Stassin could be a smart long-term investment for West Ham given his age and the quality he’s already possessing.

His versatility and goal-scoring instinct suggest future potential, but expecting him to lead the attack in the 2025/26 Premier League season is unrealistic.

The Belgian’s limited top-flight experience and unproven physicality against elite defenders indicate he’s not ready to spearhead a Premier League side.

The Hammers, aiming to avoid another relegation scrap under Graham Potter, need a proven, clinical striker to deliver immediate impact and ensure competitiveness.
