Lucas Paqueta most likely outcome revealed as West Ham sources speak out
Lucas Paqueta is edging closer to departing West Ham in the January transfer window, but there are still some issues that need ironing out.
Flamengo emerged as the top contender to sign Paqueta after the Brazilian publicly stated his desire to return to his homeland.
West Ham have demanded £50million for Paqueta’s services, as they don’t want to lose one of their key players at a pivotal point in the season.
But West Ham are also willing to accept a bid of around £35m for Paqueta, as long as their playmaker is loaned back until the end of the season, with the most likely outcome now being revealed.
Lucas Paqueta likely to remain with West Ham until the end of 2025/26
Nuno Espirito Santo is involved in a delicate situation. The Portuguese tactician doesn’t want to lose the 28-year-old midway through the campaign when relegation is on the line, but since the former Lyon star has stressed his desire to leave the club, they risk him downing tools if an agreement isn’t reached.
Flamengo and West Ham are currently meeting over Paqueta’s future, and according to ESPN, sources have said that the Brazilian international is likely to remain at the London Stadium until May.
So, the best outcome for the Hammers is accepting the £35m bid from Flamengo, and keeping the talented playmaker until the end of the campaign.
That way, Paqueta’s permanent move back to Brazil is guaranteed, and Nuno has one of his most important players for a pivotal four months in the club’s history.
West Ham head to London rivals Tottenham on Saturday seven points adrift of safety, and only a miracle could save them from the drop.

Will Paqueta be involved vs Tottenham?
In a bid to rescue a dire situation, Nuno will want all of his key players available, and that includes his Brazilian playmaker.
Paqueta is one of the only few players in the squad who can produce a moment of magic, with his wand of a left foot capable of destruction.
Sadly, Paqueta’s chances of featuring against Tottenham this weekend are in doubt after it was reported that he “officially” has a back problem.
A back injury is a common complaint when a player is looking to force a move away from a club, and in the case of Paqueta, it isn’t surprising that he could be making up an excuse.
As much as he’s a talented player, Nuno doesn’t need a bad egg in an already toxic dressing room, with time running out to save their skin.
