Lucas Paqueta disenchanted with David Moyes, West Ham United exit would be very expensive

Lucas Paqeuta may seek a move away from West Ham this summer, a source has told Claret and Hugh.

The Brazillian has spent just one season in the Premier League after arriving at the London Stadium from Lyon last summer for a club-record fee of £51million (Sky Sports).

Overall it has been a positive first season for the 25-year-old who scored five goals and provided seven assists as he helped West Ham to win their first major trophy in more than four decades in the form of the Europa Conference League.

But Claret and Hugh have reported (29 June) that a source has revealed to them Paqueta is unhappy with David Moyes’ brand of football and the midfielder could seek a move to PSG – though the length of his contract would mean a big fee would be required to sanction any sale.

Unlikely

Unless Paqueta kicks up a real fuss and forces his way out of West Ham, it is hard to imagine he will be sold this summer.

Coming in as a club-record signing with plenty of expectation on his shoulders and excitement around his arrival it would be a strange decision for the Hammers to cash in now. Unless they get a significant offer, the club will certainly want to keep hold of Paqueta.

West Ham

It is understandable why the midfielder has not enjoyed his first season in England. He was part of a side locked in a relegation battle, which at times played a very negative brand of football and did not always feature in his preferred position.

As a creative Brazillian with a clear passion for flair, his style and Moyes’ was never going to be a match made in heaven but that doesn’t mean he should give up on his time with West Ham just yet.

In other West Ham news, another big-money signing from last summer could also be looking for a way out.
