Lucas Paqueta agrees £12.4m package as major West Ham update emerges
West Ham are edging closer to a solution on Lucas Paqueta’s future.
Nuno Espirito Santo does not want to lose his star man, but David Sullivan appears to be backed into a corner over the player’s wishes.
Paqueta wants to move back to Flamengo permanently this window, as the Hammers are trying to finalise a fair transfer.
There have been suggestions that West Ham want to keep the 28-year-old on loan until the end of the season, only if a permanent sale goes through in the coming weeks.
However, Paqueta seems to have his heart set on returning to his former side as soon as possible, as further wage updates confirm a transfer is close to completion.

Lucas Paqueta agrees to slash his wage for Flamengo move
West Ham could bank up to £39million for Paqueta, after the Hammers knocked back Flamengo’s initial offer of around £30million.
The speculation has caused controversy, and many supporters are in consensus that the attacking midfielder should be sold as soon as possible.
- Paqueta has faced legal issues at West Ham
- He came close to joining Manchester City in 2023 for £80million
- Paqueta has just one assist in the last two seasons for the Irons
According to the Brazilian outlet Coluna do Fla, Paqueta has agreed to drop down to 40 per cent of the wage that he currently earns at West Ham to make the switch to Flamengo.
The proposed contract is a four-year deal, which would see the number 10 stay in Brazil until 2030.
Paqueta’s current weekly paycheck may make supporters think twice about the Brazilian’s motive to move back to his homeland.
What does Paqueta earn at West Ham?
According to Claret and Hugh, Paqueta is earning £150,000 per week at E20, which means he will take a cut of £90,000 per week for the transfer to Flamengo.
The amount that the 28-year-old will then earn over his four-year contract with Flamengo will amount to £12.4million in total, a big difference from his earnings at the London Stadium.
| Club | Wage per week | Contract length | Overall package |
| West Ham | £150,000 | August 2022 – June 2027 | £37.6m |
| Flamengo | £60,000 | January 2026 – January 2030 | £12.4m |
It’s still clearly an astronomical amount of money to be paid, however, the Brazilian is opting against raking in even more money that could change the future of his family for generations to come.
It looks like Paqueta just wants to go home, and Sullivan needs to do what’s best for all parties and come to an agreement for his departure.
