Following the news, the 25-year-old posted an emotional video on Instagram thanking the Dutch club for his time at the Johan Cruyff Arena, with Sevilla forward Ocampos, who has been linked with a move to Fulham this summer [Daily Mail], responding by saying “Big puppy, good luck bro”.

There have been a number of responses from former teammates to Alvarez’s post on Instagram, where he admitted it was “difficult to find the words” to say goodbye to Ajax after the club gave him the opportunity to fulfil his “dream”.
It’s understandable that the Mexican is emotional after being an instrumental figure for the Dutch side since signing from Mexican club America in 2019 after making 147 appearances, in which he scored 13 goals and laid on six assists [Transfermarkt].
Ocampos spent the first half of last season on loan in Amsterdam and, judging by his message to the midfielder, they developed a strong relationship.

His response shows that he was a popular figure amongst the players at Ajax and he will be hoping to have a similar impact on his new teammates at West Ham.
Alvarez will be looking forward to putting the claret and blue shirt on for the first time so he can show everyone what he is made of as the Premier League season gets underway this weekend.
In other West Ham news, one player is due to have his medical ahead of a move to the London Stadium.
