Lopetegui talks to Summerville as West Ham United ‘here we go’ dropped by Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United are on the verge of unveiling the signing of Crysencio Summerville following the player’s talks with Julen Lopetegui, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano reported on his X account [31 July] his signature catchphrase “here we go” on the deal, explaining that there is a fee of £25m plus add-ons being paid to Leeds United for their playmaker.

Summerville had been granted permission to discuss personal terms with the Hammers following progression in talks between the two clubs, and a contract has now been agreed with his camp [Fabrizio Romano, 31 July].

The Dutchman will become the fourth senior summer arrival at the London Stadium once the deal has been formally announced.

Summerville offers West Ham attacking boost

In a summer of change at the London Stadium – not least the alterations in managerial structure with Lopetegui installed as a head coach rather than a manager – Tim Steidten has led up the recruitment for the Spaniard’s squad to so far mixed success.

However, Hammers fans will have their spirits revitalised by the signing of Summerville, who has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs throughout the window alongside French champions PSG, and is now set to join the squad on their USA tour [Dharmesh Sheth, 31 July].

The player himself is keen to play in the top flight and get himself into reckoning for the Netherlands national side, and delivered excellently for Leeds in the Championship last campaign with 20 league goals and nine assists.

The 22-year-old will only continue on an upward trajectory and is clearly of Premier League quality, and adds to the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus with that crucial creativity and eye for goal.

Plenty more activity is anticipated at the London Stadium within the next month as the club push to become a regular fixture in European football, having tasted it in some style in recent times.

In other West Ham news, the club are set to miss out on this key striker target.
