Liverpool could offer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in swap deal for West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen

Liverpool could offer former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to West Ham in a swap deal for star winger Jarrod Bowen, according to The Mirror.

The Hammers forward has hit double figures for goals and assists in the Premier League this season and has attracted interested from Jurgen Klopp’s side as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who is out of contract next summer.

Now according to a report on Wednesday [May 18], the FA Cup winners and Champions League finalists could look to sweeten the deal by offering David Moyes the services of Oxlade-Chamberlain on top of some cash for the 25-year-old.

The London club suffered at the end of the season as they lacked depth in attacking areas and Oxlade-Chamberlain could help that. However if it means losing their best attacker, then it makes little sense to do a deal.

With European football on offer, it’s possible however that the Hammers make a move for the former Arsenal man separately to boost their midfield and attack options and give him a fresh opportunity to kickstart his career again.

Any deal that involves Bowen leaving the London Stadium this summer gets a big, fat no from the fans that’s for sure.

Alongside Declan Rice, Bowen has emerged as one of the most important players in the squad and his progression in recent years under Moyes has been absolutely brilliant.

If he must leave, he would command a fee of at least £70m you’d think and Oxlade-Chamberlain, with his injuries and lack of appearances in recent years, means he isn’t worth even remotely close to what they paid for him a few years ago.

Doing that deal would only weaken the side and right now it’s at a stage where the club is in a position to bolster and strengthen it to continue their progression and convince their top players to stay.

The window to do that is small, because of contract situations, so they must take full advantage and really go for it this summer or face going backwards in the future.
