Kurt Zouma to have wages covered in full as West Ham United exit nears
Shabab Al-Ahli are set to cover the final 12 months of Kurt Zouma’s West Ham United wages, according to David Ornstein.
The Athletic journalist reported this on 8 August and shared that the deal is “close” to being completed.
The Hammers have been looking to offload their captain throughout the summer and Zouma seemingly has a new home in Dubai.
Kurt Zouma leaving West Ham United makes sense for both parties
The Hammers’ defence was about as far away from solid last season as it could have possibly been.
The club conceded the fourth-most amount of goals last term despite having the likes of Zouma and Nayef Aguerd in their defensive line.
Max Kilman has since been brought in to help alleviate some of the defensive burden but his addition alone likely won’t be enough.
That’s why after it was reported yesterday that Julen Lopetegui needed to sell the Frenchman before bringing in anyone else [Sean Whetstone, 7 August] and the transfer has moved on very quickly.

West Ham have been looking to get rid of their captain since the start of the summer window and Aguerd might not be too far behind him.
His exit will free up around £4.6million in wages [Sean Whetstone, 8 August] and opens up the possibility of another signing coming in at centre-back to replace him.
Whilst the transfer fee they’ll receive will likely be minimal, the fact that the Dubai club are covering this for the season makes up for it.
