Kurt Zouma medical update shared as West Ham United wait on exit news
West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma has a medical booked with Al-Orobah on Tuesday (27 August), according to Santi Aouna.
The Foot Mercato journalist reported via X (26 August) that an agreement is almost complete between the Hammers and Al Orobah for the transfer of Zouma.
Aouna has reported that the move will be a loan with an option to make the transfer permanent.
However, Fabrizio Romano previously reported via X (26 August) that the clause to make the transfer permanent was mandatory.
Kurt Zouma to leave West Ham United and join Al-Orobah
It appears as though there are conflicting reports about the structure of Zouma’s move to Al Orobah.
While there seems to be a common consensus that the move is a loan, it isn’t clear whether Al-Orobah will be obligated to purchase Zouma at the end of the 2024/25 season.
However, this won’t be of any concern to supporters at the London Stadium. The Frenchman’s current West Ham contract expires next summer.
Therefore, whether or not his transfer to Al-Orobah is made permanent, it appears as though the defender will not be returning to the club.
As a result, it will be up to Zouma to make an impression in Saudi Arabia if he wants to earn a permanent move to the club, if the clause to purchase him is only an option, that is.
For Julen Lopetegui and West Ham, it looks as if they can now move on from the defender, with Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo set to form an exciting new partnership at the London Stadium.
In other West Ham news, another defender at the club has rejected a move away from the London Stadium.
