Kurt Zouma exit takes another twist as West Ham United player location shared
West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma “is still on site” in the Middle East after problems arose in his medical at Shabab Al-Ahli, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The journalist posted the update on X [12 August] to report that the clubs remain in regular contact to find a solution and secure the deal.
Reports that Zouma has returned to the UK following the complications [UAE Kick, 11 August] are wide of the mark, it is claimed, and the Frenchman is still in Dubai ready to complete the move.
Sean Whetstone added via his West Ham Football X account [12 August] that Zouma hopes a compromise can still be reached.
Kurt Zouma can still seal West Ham United exit
The 29-year-old can still secure his exit from West Ham this summer despite initial fears the deal could be scuppered due to complications with the player’s medical.
Julen Lopetegui will hope the deal goes ahead as he continues what has proved to be a busy summer of arrivals at the London Stadium.
The Irons have already bolstered their backline with the signings of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo who will join on a season-long loan deal with an obligation to buy next summer [Sean Whetstone, 11 August].
Zouma, who captained the Hammers over 39 appearances last season has been deemed surplus to requirements in East London, and his sale will help the club further improve the side ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Tim Steidten and David Sullivan have sent a statement of intent to the rest of the league with the transfer business this summer and West Ham will be one of the favourites to finish in the European spots this campaign.
For now, the transfer is on hold as the clubs continue to work on a solution to Zouma’s injury problems potentially scuppering the deal [UAE Kick, 11 August], but it is in the interest of all parties to find a swift resolution and secure his immediate future.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers’ latest transfer deal isn’t quite what it appears to be with a big-money fee lined up in 2025.
