Kalvin Phillips contract update as £5-6m West Ham United news emerges at the London Stadium
The loan deal to take Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City to West Ham is 95 per cent complete, according to Sean Whetstone.
The 6foot2 editor tweeted on Tuesday (23 January) that no contracts have been signed yet by the England international, but the Hammers are expecting to get the deal over the line soon.
He added that the total package is between £5million and £6million, which includes the 28-year-old’s wages after it had been reported by other sources that the Irons were set to pay £7million.
Getting there
Although it seems as though the deal isn’t perhaps as close as some sources have suggested, West Ham are hopeful that the transfer will be completed before too long.
The club are extremely keen to get this deal over the line and that is why they have agreed to pay Man City millions to secure him temporarily.
That could change down the line, though, as numerous sources close to the situation have reported that the Hammers have agreed an option-to-buy clause for the midfielder.
While David Moyes will be keen to get the deal complete as soon as possible, there isn’t an immediate rush due to our next game not being until the Bournemouth fixture on 1 February.
The situation is likely to move quickly over the next couple of days as Phillips is believed to be heading to Rush Green for a medical on Thursday (25 January).
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are set to announce a new behind-the-scenes appointment.
