West Ham United ready new Matias Soule transfer

Although plenty of change was expected at the London Stadium this summer, the Hammers are making sure their attack gets the most attention.

Luis Guilherme has been welcomed to West Ham’s ranks [the Athletic, 13 June] and the London-based club have even taken the first steps in acquiring the services of Steven Bergwijn from Ajax.

West Ham finished in ninth place last term and stayed consistent enough throughout, especially when the departure of Declan Rice is also taken into account.

Many thought that the Hammers’ defence would be their top priority, especially since they had the fourth-worst defensive record in the top flight bar the bottom three.

Moves have also been made in this regard as Max Kilman has joined the club. Although the addition of Soule isn’t exactly needed for Julen Lopetegui, it would help alleviate some pressure from the shoulders of star players Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus next season.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are also readying themselves for the transfer of a Serie A centre-back.
