Julen Lopetegui insists on West Ham United transfer for Barcelona star Ferran Torres
West Ham United want to sign Barcelona star Ferran Torres this summer to bolster their attacking options, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Writing on their website (17 June), the Spanish news outlet reports that new manager Julen Lopetegui “insists” on getting a deal done for the Spain international as he looks for competition for Michail Antonio in the striker position.
But Torres currently has no intention of leaving the Catalan giants this summer and believes there is a spot for him in the team under new boss Hansi Flick, and does not want to give up at his dream club.
His agents have made it clear that he will not listen to any offers and while Barcelona are happy to keep him, they would be open to sale if the right offer came in.
Ferran Torres the answer to West Ham United striker problems?
The attacking options at the London Stadium are looking threadbare currently for Lopetegui to choose from, and that’s despite the addition of young star Luis Guilherme earlier in the window.
A new striker seems almost inevitable this summer with Danny Ings linked with a move to Southampton [talkSPORT, 28 May] and Michail Antonio linked to the MLS and Saudi Arabia [Athletic, 15 May], while Said Benrahma’s move to Lyon is likely to be made permanent and the club are open to offers for Maxwel Cornet too.
Torres has done really well at Barcelona and for the Spain national team in recent years having scored a bucket load of goals, but he struggled in the Premier League under Pep Guardiola for Manchester City before that.

He is still only 24-years-old and has got the ability to play across the forward line which will be a big boost for Lopetegui, but if he has no interest on moving then the club shouldn’t hang on for too long.
The summer is busy and they can’t afford to waste time on transfers that have no hope of happening, with so many positions needed and a striker prioritised.
In other West Ham news, Jose Mourinho wants to hijack the Hammers’ move for this attacker at Fenerbahce.
