Julen Lopetegui eyes high-profile West Ham United revamp amid Jean-Clair Todibo transfer update
Julen Lopetegui wants to revamp his West Ham United defence with potentially two “high-profile” additions this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
The outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (2 July) that the Irons have seen an initial £25.4million bid rejected by Nice for French international Jean-Claire Todibo as their transfer plans ramp up this summer.
Lopetegui is keen to rebuild his backline at the London Stadium and will look to make at least one and potentially two big signings before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the summer.
Todibo remains the Irons’ leading target and West Ham are still considering whether or not to submit an improved bid having also seen an offer for Wolves captain Max Kilman rejected early in the window.

The backline at the London Stadium was always going to need a revamp this summer because of just how fragile it looked for large parts of David Moyes’ final season in East London and it seems that Lopetegui is eager to get that underway.
Players like Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd are being surrounded by speculation while Angelo Ogbonna’s summer exit has already been confirmed. The Irons can not enter next season solely relying on Konstantinos Mavropanos.
Whether or not the funds are available for the Hammers to sign both Kilman and Todibo remains to be seen, but technical director Tim Steidten has already confirmed West Ham do not have to sell to buy players this summer.
Maybe they will be able to pull off the unthinkable and bring both players to the London Stadium in a single window, but even the most optimistic of supporters would admit that seems a bit unlikely at this moment in time.
Hopefully, the board will back the former Real Madrid manager and get him two high-profile additions if that’s what he feels this squad needs.
