Journalist urges West Ham United to move for ‘fantastic’ Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Ryan Taylor has urged West Ham to make a move for Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer.

Speaking to GiveMeSport on 12 August, the Express journalist said he was surprised that the Hammers haven’t made a move for the 24-year-old.

The Irons have been on the lookout for new signings in the middle of the park following the departure of Declan Rice and he believes the Foxes midfielder, who journalist Josh Bunting once referred to as an “excellent talent”, would be a “great pickup”.

“As you saw on Sunday, he breaks the lines and gets forward,” said Taylor. “He’d be a great pickup for many Premier League clubs like Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham. I’m surprised they’re not at least trying for him.

“I did report interest from Luton right at the start of the window. But Luton don’t have the kind of cash Leicester would want, and from what I understand, Dewsbury-Hall is happy at Leicester.”

Not convinced

This is a potential signing that probably wouldn’t be too convincing for many West Ham fans as he hasn’t exactly pulled up any trees since breaking into the Leicester first team.

There were times last season when he did show his quality in a struggling Foxes team, but he didn’t do enough on a regular basis for anyone to come in and sign him yet.

He has, however, had an excellent start to life in the Championship at the King Power Stadium after scoring two goals and laying on one assist in his side’s opening couple of games of the season.

That total almost puts him level on the numbers he racked up during the last campaign in the Premier League, having notched two goals and two assists in 31 appearances.

It doesn’t appear his early season form with Leicester is going to tempt the Hammers into making a move for the midfielder, though, as we look to be focusing on deals for James Ward-Prowse and Scott McTominay this summer.

In other West Ham news, Alan Shearer has reacted to recent transfer developments at the club.
