Journalist moots West Ham United exit for Aaron Cresswell in January
It’s possible that Aaron Cresswell could be on his way out of West Ham in January, according to Paul Brown.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Sunday (22 October), the former Daily Star journalist said he believes the 33-year-old still has a “role to play” for the Hammers this season, but that it will be interesting to see how many minutes he gets.
He added that the English left-back is going to want to be playing regular minutes and, if he isn’t getting that by January, it may be “best for all parties” if he does move on from the London Stadium.

“It’s possible that Aaron Cresswell leaves,” said Brown. “At one time, he was a key part of this team and a guaranteed starter pretty much every week. That’s not so much the case anymore.
“I think he probably still has a role to play this season, so it’ll be interesting to see how many minutes he gets. I don’t think he’s particularly pushing to get out, but he is not getting any younger and will want to be playing for a team that can give him regular minutes.
“If he is not getting that by January, it may be best for all parties if he does make a move.”
Makes sense
It does only feel like a matter of time before Cresswell does eventually leave West Ham after he tried to force a move away from the London Stadium in the summer.
The defender wants more minutes in the side after losing his place in the starting lineup to Emerson towards the back end of last season.
But with the Italy international performing at a pretty high standard, it’s unlikely he’s ever really going to be first choice at left-back again under David Moyes.

Cresswell will get the opportunity to play in cup matches, but it’s just down to him whether or not that’s enough as he heads into the latter stages of his career.
It’s probably all going to come down to the terms that are offered to the Hammers by any interested parties and whether we can get anyone in to replace him.
In other West Ham news, a Lucas Paqueta recall update has emerged amid the allegations aimed at him.
