Journalist claims Felipe Anderson has left West Ham for Lazio, no club announcements yet

There has been no confirmation from West Ham but Ekrem Konur has claimed that Felipe Anderson has joined Italian giants Lazio.

Konur, a Turkish journalist with over 120,000 followers on his verified Twitter account, reported the news on his personal Twitter profile on Tuesday (July 6) morning.

He wrote: “Felipe Anderson is now a Lazio player.”

Matter of time

This transfer cannot be termed as a done deal until it is announced by one of the three parties, West Ham, Lazio or Felipe Anderson, but we would expect to hear something imminently.

It has been widely reported that Anderson is on the verge of a return to the club he spent five successful years at before he joined West Ham in 2018.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday (July 5) on his personal Twitter profile that the two clubs were in talks over a deal that would see the Brazilian leave for Rome on a free transfer, though the Irons would receive a percentage on any future fee Lazio receive for him.

Romano also said that personal terms had already been agreed.

It’s hard to see what could stop this deal now, though Konur’s emojis could mean a couple of things – either Anderson just needs to jet out to Italy to put pen to paper, or he has already done so.

Regardless, one would expect to see an announcement on his future in the coming days given his obvious struggle to break back into the West Ham first team following a disappointing couple of years, including a disastrous loan spell at Porto last season.
