Jota Silva transfer update emerges at West Ham United after London reports

West Ham United transfer target Jota Silva was not in London yesterday despite what some reports have said, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese newspaper reported in its print edition (12 June, page 19), that the 24-year-old winger was training for his current side Vitoria de Guimaraes in Leca de Palmeira.

As well as the Hammers, Silva has been linked to moves with sides in Germany, France, Spain and the Middle East already this summer.

Silva scored 15 goals in 42 appearances last season, including 11 from 33 games in the Primeira Liga, and has emerged as one of Julen Lopetgui’s main transfer targets at the London Stadium [O Jogo].

West Ham United to continue transfer chase for Jota Silva

Lopetegui’s Hammers have taken a fast and loose approach to the transfer window so far this summer, and having already identified six positions in need of strengthening, the Spaniard has given particular attention to the flanks.

The Irons are on the brink of confirming the signing of Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras [Florian Plettenberg], but that hasn’t deterred their pursuit of Silva, who would be much readier for first-team action than the 18-year-old.

Star wingers like Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have already been linked with moves away from the London Stadium, and if such transfers do come to pass, Lopetegui will need to find replacements who will replicate the duo’s form [Sky Sports].

With 11 league goals in 33 league games, albeit not at Premier League level, Silva could be an interesting addition to the Hammers’ squad next season, providing a different outlet to the likes of Bowen and Kudus in wide areas.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have placed a surprise player on their transfer list ahead of the upcoming summer window.
