Jose Mourinho in dispute with Roma chief over transfer for West Ham ace Gianluca Scamacca
West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is set on a move back to Italy and is the preferred option of Roma’s director of football Tiago Pinto, according to CalcioMercato.
The Italian news outlet has reported on Tuesday (11 July) that fresh talks are due to take place between the Serie A giants and the Hammers this week in a bid to strike a deal for the forward.
But it claims Roma boss Jose Mourinho doesn’t share the same view as Pinto and is instead keen on bringing Spanish international Alvaro Morata to Rome.
Homecoming
It comes as no surprise to hear that Scamacca is keen on a move to Roma, given that he was born in the Italian capital and spent three years playing in the club’s academy.
It hasn’t worked out for him at all at West Ham and, while injuries haven’t helped his cause since joining the East Londoners in a big-money move from Sassuolo last summer, he doesn’t seem to fit into David Moyes’s style of play.
Returning to his city of birth to play under Mourinho at a huge club like Roma is understandably extremely appealing and he will be looking to get his career back on track.

With the Portuguese boss reportedly at odds with Pinto and favouring a move for Morata, it will be interesting to see how this transfer develops over the coming days.
The key thing for the Hammers is to ensure we get as much money for him as possible to get a quality replacement in that will be a better fit for the way Moyes wants his centre-forward to play.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are reluctant to pay £25million to bring in a Bristol City starlet.
