John McGinn’s ‘fairytale’ continues as advanced talks held amid West Ham transfer bid

West Ham had many targets in the summer transfer window which they failed to sign.

This has no doubt contributed to their terrible start to the season and Graham Potter’s eventual sacking at the London Stadium.

As a result, Nuno Espirito Santo has been promised funds in January at West Ham in order to right these wrongs.

However, if the Hammers plan on going in for former targets like John McGinn, they may be too late to the party.

John McGinn set to sign new Aston Villa contract

McGinn has been a star in the Premier League in recent years, captaining Villa to European football multiple times.

Yet, in the summer, he was heavily linked away from Villa Park and had multiple potential suitors.

However, he remained put, and now, according to The Telegraph on 16 October, the midfielder is close to signing a new contract at Villa, continuing his “fairytale” at the Birmingham outfit.

This is despite the report suggesting that West Ham were one of three Premier League sides wanting to sign the Scotland international in the summer.

However, any hope of getting him in January now seems to be slim if the Hammers were to reignite their interest, given his impending contract.

West Ham need to decide their January targets early

With the January window now less than three months away, Nuno and the hierarchy need to decide who their targets are as soon as possible.

Multiple additions are needed, and clearly, clubs are already starting to prepare for the transfer market.

The last thing West Ham need is another set of long transfer sagas, which could cost multiple points.

Hopefully, Nuno already has multiple players in mind ready to sign as soon as the window opens.
