Jhon Duran transfer: West Ham table new mega bid
West Ham have had a bid rejected by Aston Villa for Jhon Duran, according to Graeme Bailey.
Writing on TBR Football, Bailey reported (13 January) that the Hammers submitted a bid for the Villa striker that was in excess of the £30million they offered in the summer.
However, the Villans rejected the bid due to it being miles away from their valuation which totals more than £60million.
West Ham have bid rejected for Jhon Duran
The Hammers will have been gutted not to have seen this transfer move through further in the summer, given how impressive Duran has been for Villa throughout the campaign.
The 21-year-old has scored seven Premier League goals from 18 appearances this term and given the Irons are missing Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and now Niclas Fullkrug through injury, they would love to have necessary attacking reinforcement.
Although the figure West Ham put forward this time round isn’t known, it is more than what they were originally prepared to go for in the summer and due to how well the youngster has done this season, his valuation has only risen.
Unfortunately for the East London outfit, they don’t have the funds to push the boat out too far during the January transfer window which means it’s unlikely they would be able to table a bid to prize Duran away from Villa Park.
If only David Sullivan and the board had done this six months earlier.
In other West Ham news, the Irons have received a new bid for Edson Alvarez.
