Jesse Lingard to West Ham United ‘all but agreed’ – ExWHUemploye
West Ham are confident of getting a deal for Jesse Lingard over the line, with one club source saying it’s “all but agreed” according to ExWHUemployee.
The Hammers have been in the hunt for Lingard ever since his loan spell in the 2020/21 season where he scored nine goals in 16 appearances, before returning to Manchester United for the final year of his contract.
But now a free agent, David Moyes has moved back for the 29-year-old again and according to Ex during his podcast on Patreon, the Irons are now confident they will complete a deal ahead of plenty of competition.

“Over the weekend I spoke to a couple of people in the club, not based in transfers but based in important positions in the club, and all of them said to me that they felt he was on the way,” he said.
“One actually said to me that it was all but agreed. I don’t want to say that just yet, until the fella is at West Ham with a pen in his hand about to sign the contract, because I just don’t trust him and his judgement at the moment.
“It is one of those things where he says one thing and then something changes. I do know that he wants to come to West Ham. I do know that he has indicated that he’d be happy to join. There are other clubs interested. You know there’s Newcastle, which would be slightly closer to his home in Manchester. They’re also probably going to pay more money.
“There have been American teams and so on, but I have heard that West Ham are at the moment his preferred option and I have heard that it was very close. But the club are confident of getting a deal over the line, but I’m going to only say for certain that he is joining West Ham when I know he’s at the training ground. I think it is likely to happen, however if it changes it’s down to him and not my information.”

Finally
It’s been a long time coming, but Moyes and West Ham never gave up home of getting Lingard back to the London Stadium and it seems as though they’ve finally managed it.
Lingard quickly became a fan favourite during his six-month spell at the club and fans were devastated when he opted to return to the bench at Old Trafford rather than make his move permanent.
But the connection has remained even despite his goal against us last season, and fans will be delighted to see him return to the club now on a free transfer.
He will look to link up with the likes of Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio once again in the attack and if he can recapture his form once again he will have every chance of making it to the World Cup with England.
A long, windy road has finally led to this point and it seems that Lingard is finally coming back to the east end. About time too.
