Jesse Lingard set for Nottingham Forest medical as West Ham United on verge of losing race

Nottingham Forest have beaten West Ham to the signing of Jesse Lingard with the free agent set for a medical at the City Ground, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Thursday (21 July, page 59) that Lingard, 29, is heading towards a move to the East Midlands club.

West Ham had reportedly been in talks to re-sign the former Manchester United attacker but it seems as though those advanced have failed with Lingard set for a medical with Forest.

Good, move on

While we cannot have too many complaints about West Ham’s transfer recruitment under David Moyes, we feel as though he’s wasted a lot of his time and the club’s time by chasing Lingard.

The England attacker rejected the chance to return to the London Stadium last summer on the back of a stunning loan spell in the capital.

He decided to stay at Man United because he was deluded enough to think he could compete for a starting spot there, despite Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho being signed.

And this summer, the same has happened again.

West Ham

Lingard has strung us along a couple of times now and Forest are welcome to him.

He’s clearly heading to the City Ground for the money because why else would he turn down European football at a club he’s been at previously to join a club who could be battling against relegation next season?

The way Lingard has gone about this stinks and we’re glad that we can finally move on and try to sign other players.

Moyes hasn’t had many flops but Nikola Vlasic has so far failed at West Ham.

Maybe it’s time for Moyes to put a lot of effort into getting the best out of him or trying to use the extra funds that were designated to Lingard to getting a new striker in.
