Jesse Lingard flies to USA to hear ‘ground breaking’ offers, leaves West Ham United waiting
Jesse Lingard is set to fly to the USA to listen to some “ground breaking” offers from MLS clubs, as West Ham look to convince him to return according to ESPN.
The Hammers have made the England international a contract offer to return [Daily Mail, June 25th] to the London Stadium, after a successful loan spell in the 2020/21 season that saw him score nine goals in 16 games.
Now he is a free agent after his Manchester United contract expired at the turn of the month, and Lingard is intent on listening to all his options including in the USA with two MLS clubs showing an interest.

The unnamed clubs are reportedly ready to make “ground breaking” offers to tempt him to the US in the prime of his career, but the 29-year-old is most worried about his chances of getting back in the England squad.
Lingard is yet to make a decision on his future, with Premier League club Everton also in the race for his signature.
Dragging
At what point do the club get the message that he doesn’t really want to come back, and start targeting other players for the attacking midfield position?
Ever since Lingard left the club following his loan spell there have been links to bring him back, yet he chose to stay at Man United and sit on the bench last season and now won’t commit to re-joining while other clubs are interested.
That tells you that his main priority isn’t necessarily coming to east London, and if that’s the case then Moyes should get the message and move on.

There are plenty of attacking players that the Irons can target in that position to be able to strengthen the squad, that would actually want to be there and would do just as good a job.
Being available on a free transfer doesn’t make the deal cheaper considering the giant wages he wants, so it may be best for all parties if the club starts looking at alternatives before they get burned again.
