Jean-Clair Todibo medical update emerges as West Ham United close in on transfer
Jean-Clair Todibo has completed the first part of his medical with West Ham United, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports journalist reported via X on Friday (9 August) that the French defender has arrived in London ahead of his transfer, with the second part of his medical scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Todibo jetted into the UK alongside Hammers’ technical director Tim Steidten early on Friday morning after the Hammers agreed on a loan deal with an obligation to make the move permanent for £34million with Nice [Fabrizio Romano, 9 August].

This transfer is certainly moving quicker than most supporters would have expected. Only a few hours ago Steidten was attempting a hijack and now Todibo has already completed part of his medical in East London.
Fans won’t want to get too excited until the deal is set in stone, but it does certainly seem as though this deal is going to happen and should all go to plan, it could be announced sooner rather than later this weekend.
Julen Lopetegui had made his desire to revamp the Hammers’ backline clear ever since he arrived following David Moyes’ exit and while he could still do with a new right back, he has solved the centre-back problem.
It will be interesting to see who the Irons target once the finishing touches are put on this deal. The Hammers may well feel as though their business is now completed ahead of the Premier League campaign.
Either way, the pressure is now going to be on Lopetegui to hit the ground running with this squad. There is no reason that the Irons shouldn’t be challenging for the European places after their summer spending.
