Jean Clair-Todibo already at new club for medical as West Ham agree another late exit

Jean-Clair Todibo is closing in on his exit from West Ham United before transfer deadline day.

The Frenchman fell out of favour at the London Stadium last season amid reports of a falling out with Nuno Espirito Santo.

Conversely, the 26-year-old has not featured for the Hammers this term amid a poor start to the campaign by West Ham.

Several clubs in France and Italy have been linked with Todibo, while Aston Villa were also reportedly tracking his services.

Now, though, it looks like there has been a winner in the race for the former Barcelona defender.

Who is Jean-Clair Todibo leaving West Ham for?

It was only really a matter of time before Todibo found a new home to leave West Ham.

Exits this summer were inevitable, and while it was not entirely clear at the start of the window who would leave, it was abundantly clear Todibo would go.

Now, French journalist Fabice Hawkins - who has over 275,000 followers on X - has shared Todibo's destination.

Hawkins reported that Todibo is already undergoing his medical with Ligue 1 side Lens, who will be playing in the Champions League this season.

Lens have agreed a loan deal wih a purchase option to sign Todibo, who has apparently made a "significant financial effort to facilitate his arrival".

French rivals Marseille were said to be eyeing a deal for Todibo too, but were unable to proceed with a move due to the financial constraints they are working under.

What do West Ham need before the window closes?

While it is little surprise to see Todibo heading for the exit door, there is a clear need for Nuno to bring in further reinforcements.

Time is of the essence, too, with the transfer window slamming shut at 11pm UK time on Tuesday, 1 September.

Centre-back is looking a concern, and Everton's experienced defender Michael Keane is reportedly on West Ham's radar.

More options in attack are also desired, with Reiss Nelson - now a free agent after having his Arsenal contract ripped up - still thought to be a target.

Leeds United's Largie Ramazani has also been linked, while Viking youngster Edvin Austbo is also a player of the Hammers' radar.

With West Ham winless in their opening three Championship fixtures, there is a desperation to flesh out the squad before the deadline passes.
