Jarrod Bowen transfer offer plan emerges at West Ham United amid Newcastle and Tottenham links

West Ham will “immediately” reject any transfer approaches for Jarrod Bowen this summer, according to Sean Whetstone.

The Six Foot Two editor reported via his West Ham Football account on Twitter (9 July) that the England international is “not for sale at any price” with Julen Lopetegui seeing him as an important part of his plans at the London Stadium.

Newcastle have discussed a move for the Hammers winger according to The Athletic (2 July), while HITC reported on 25 June that an enquiry had been received from Tottenham.

With David Moyes’ captain last season Kurt Zouma potentially leaving the club this summer Bowen, 27, is among the names that could take over the armband under Lopetegui [The Athletic, 5 July].

Julen Lopetegui wants Jarrod Bowen to stay at West Ham

Even for a huge offer it is hard to see a strong argument for the Irons to let Bowen leave when he has proven to be a crucial part of the squad for a succession of seasons.

Since Declan Rice’s departure he has stepped into a more prominent role behind the scenes [i News, 9 March], and has been the most dependable source of goals in an attack which has often struggled in that department.

His transfer value will be starting to decrease moving forward given his age but it would surely only make sense to consider enough cash to strengthen the squad with multiple new signings, and it would still be extremely expensive to find a player who could match his regular impact.

A change at manager always raises the possibility that the new man in will want to overhaul the squad and bring in his own people, as is already underway in defence with the arrival of Lopetegui’s former Wolves star Max Kilman.

But with Tim Steidten tasked with strengthening the squad for the Spaniard this summer it looks like Bowen remains a figure to build around rather than look to cash in on, and for good reason after 60 goals and 39 assists, as well as the winner as the Irons lifted the Europa Conference League trophy.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have a strong interest in an “interesting” transfer target they could get for a reduced price according to a live Sky Sports update.
