Jarrod Bowen reacts as Michail Antonio’s next move confirmed away from West Ham

Michail Antonio has finally confirmed his next club after his West Ham exit in the summer.

Antonio was released by West Ham after 10 years with the Hammers, with the horrific car crash that nearly ended his career not allowing him to say farewell on the pitch.

He was in talks with Championship side Charlton and Qatari side Al-Sailiya, and he has chosen the latter over the London-based side.

The move was finally confirmed on 2 March, ending speculation over the London Stadium fan favourite’s next destination.

How did Bowen react to Antonio announcement?

Bowen and other former Irons teammates have reacted to Antonio’s decision, with the captain liking the post from the Qatar Stars League outfit.

Konstantinos Mavropanos, Maxwel Cornet, Jean-Clair Todibo and Tomas Soucek also liked the post regarding the 35-year-old’s future.

Vladimír Coufal sent a message to Antonio, saying: “Congrats brother.”

Kurt Zouma also commented on the post, saying “my guy” with the three heart emojis.

Why West Ham fans may be supporting Al-Sailiya for the foreseeable future

Antonio will forever be adored by Hammers supporters, for his contributions for their team in his long spell with the E20 side.

He left as their leading Premier League goalscorer, with 68 strikes in 268 matches in the division for the East London club, although Bowen is now chasing that record down, as he has 64 to his name at the moment.

He will always be remembered for his part in the UEFA Europa Conference League win in 2023, which ended a long 43-year wait for a trophy.

The fans will wish him the best for the future, and hope that he can start banging the goals in straight away with his new team, and make a good impression in the Arab Peninsula.

Al-Sailiya may well find themselves with a lot of new supporters of a claret and blue persuasion for as long as Antonio is on their books.

His stint in Doha may well be short-lived as their season only runs until April, so his comeback to action may not be that long, unless he can earn another contract with the two-time Qatari Stars Cup winners.

Knowing the character that he is, Hammers fans will back him to do so, and earn himself another chance in the process.
