Ibrahim Maza wants to quit Hertha Berlin amid West Ham United transfer news
Hertha Berlin youngster Ibrahim Maza is keen to leave the German capital this summer with West Ham United among the Premier League clubs linked with a move, according to Bild.
Roberto Lamprecht’s article [6 June] claims “exceptional” Maza is being courted by the Hammers, along with Brighton, Brentford and Leicester after one goal and two assists in six starts in the 2. Bundesliga in 2023-24.
The 18-year-old is being eased into professional game time and has been rated at a market value of £4.3m, taking a “quantum leap” to become Hertha’s most valuable charge.
The club are close to completing a significant piece of business for a forward of the same age, Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for upwards of £25m.
West Ham chasing promising stars
It’s no secret that West Ham United are seeking an entirely new era when it comes to the assembly of their squad, with recruitment undertaken by Tim Steidten as he looks to deliver for Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers have been busy with their transfer operations, but are yet to complete a concrete signing, following a setback with Brazil defender Fabricio Bruno who was a signature away from becoming the first through the door post-David Moyes.

The club are enquiring about Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia in an audacious move, and are looking to rubber-stamp Guilherme by the weekend – whose signing could in fairness make Maza less of a pressing need with other Premier League clubs potentially driving up his price tag.
We wait and see if the club will launch a bid for Hertha’s teenage talent.
In other West Ham news, the club could be set to sell James Ward-Prowse after just one season.
