West Ham United have seen interest from Serie A side Torino in academy graduate Ollie Scarles.

The Hammers are hoping to have a busy transfer deadline day; however, they are not exactly in a position to sanction many exits.

Nuno Espirito Santo's squad has many holes still to be filled, and left-back is one of the biggest problems.

What West Ham have told Torino after approach for Ollie Scarles

Deadline day can bring surprises, and seeing Scarles depart would be one of them.

According to journalist, Giacomo Morandin, who writes for Torino publication Toro Zone, the Serie A side "tried to snag" Scarles from West Ham.

However, West Ham closed the doors to any departure with it being said the Hammers are "banking big" on the 20-year-old.

After the sale of El Hadji Malick Diouf, the Englishman is the only natural left-back in E20.

So, it is not a shock that the approach from Torino was not entertained.

However, West Ham are still looking to add another option in that position before the window ends.

Why Scarles is set for most important West Ham season yet

Scarles, while in the West Ham squad for the last two seasons, has yet to become a regular fixture in the claret and blue.

In 2024-2025, he played just 15 Premier League matches and the following year, that reduced to 13.

Now, with him currently being Nuno's only natural option on the left of defence, his minutes and appearances are likely to go up with the Hammers in the Championship.

But that will also depend on how the Irons act in the market as they continue to seek deals before the deadline passes.
