How West Ham could raid Viking again to sign former Edvin Austbo teammate

West Ham United's relationship with Viking may only be getting started.

The Hammers made links with the Norwegian club early in the summer window to seal the signing of Edvin Austbo.

Nuno Espirito Santo made it clear that he wanted depth on his wings ahead of the Championship, also signing Manor Solomon permanently.

But the addition of Austbo excited many in E20, with the 21-year-old heavily backed for a successful career.

The left-winger joined from Viking for a fee in the region of £11million, making it one of the most expensive sales in Norwegian football history.

Austbo has already shown glimpses of his quality for West Ham, and there may be plenty more where that came from for the Hammers.

West Ham eye up Viking hotshot Tobias Moi

According to a report from Ontheminute on Tuesday, West Ham are now keen on Viking's Tobias Moi.

The Hammers are monitoring the midfielder's development, but no formal approach has yet to be made.

Championship promotion rivals Middlesbrough and Birmingham City are also said to be keen on the 20-year-old.

Moi is naturally a central midfielder, but also has experience playing as a six, which has increased his appeal.

The Norway U21 star is under contract until 2029 after signing a new deal recently, so the Irons would need to make a convincing offer to bring him to the London Stadium.

It's said that West Ham's relationship with Viking is "worth watching", but interest in Moi remains at an early stage.

Why West Ham could be looking to sign new midfielder

Moi is experienced for his age, having already played 17 times this year for Viking.

He has played three times in the Champions League for the Norwegian side in 2026, and has one goal and two assists to his name in the competition.

West Ham may be looking at Moi as one for the future, with Soungoutou Magassa looking likely to leave in January.

The Frenchman was seen as a player who could develop further with the Hammers himself, but after making his desire to leave clear, Moi could fill his boots as a high potential midfielder.

Nuno has shown trust in several young players already this campaign, Austbo being one of them.

Now, the Hammers could help the winger settle in even more by bringing one of his former teammates to the club.
