West Ham United have been given a boost in their hopes of signing Reiss Nelson.

The Hammers are keen to provide Jarrod Bowen with competition after the departure of Adama Traore.

Middlesbrough's Morgan Whittaker has been loosely linked with a move to the Irons, but speculation of the right-winger joining the E20 side has since been squashed.

However, an update from The Athletic this Thursday reports that Nelson has agreed to terminate his contract with Arsenal, and will subsequently be left as a free agent.

The right-winger was entering his final 12 months of his deal at the Emirates, which included an option to extend by a further year.

But now a decision has been mutually agreed to allow the player to leave and find new employers as a free agent, which may be music to the ears of West Ham.

Arsenal have announced that Nelson has left the club, and wish their academy product the best of luck on his nest journey.

He spent last season on loan with Brentford, but was mainly used as a rotational option, and the same can be said when he was with Fulham the campaign prior.

It's said that Nelson is set to take his time before deciding on his next club, with other clubs in England interested, as well as teams from overseas.

The Gunners see his exit as a wage relief, though West Ham may be open to offering him a decent salary, given they can now bring him to the London Stadium for a free bargain.
