How Manuel Pellegrini's admission has handed West Ham boost in push for Nelson Deossa

Manuel Pellegrini has opened the door for West Ham to push for Nelson Deossa with his latest comments at Real Betis.

The former Hammers manager is doing an excellent job with the Seville-based club, where he has qualified them for the Champions League.

The Chilean manager has proved to be a crux in West Ham's way this summer already, after Real Betis marched ahead of the Irons for Troy Parrott.

In the end, the E20 outfit picked up the signing of Joel Piroe instead, who scored on his debut.

But while Pellegrini may have hurt West Ham's chances in the striker market, he could help them in the midfielder one now.

That is because of Betis' ongoing financial concerns and his priorities in Seville.

What has Manuel Pellegrini said at Real Betis that will interest West Ham?

Deossa has emerged as a target for West Ham this summer amid reports from West Ham Way.

However, to this day, the Colombian has been looking to remain with Real Betis this coming season.

However, as shared by Mundo Deportivo, Pellegrini has made a public cry for Betis to sign a defensive midfielder.

The La Liga side are stricken with financial rules in relation to their salary cap and are also wanting to bring Dani Ceballos back to the green and whites.

But in order to add both Ceballos and the defensive midfielder Pellegrini wants, there would need to be "significant departures" this summer, with Deossa name checked as someone who could alleviate those struggles.

So, the former West Ham manager's wants could end up landing nicely for his previous employers should they push forward with their interest.

How much would Deossa cost West Ham?

There is plenty of interest in Deossa, with Mexican side Club America the latest to enter the fray.

And according to reports elsewhere on Mundo Deportivo, Betis are looking for £10.9million in order to sell the Colombian.

West Ham certainly have the money there for a move, following the high profile exit of Mateus Fernandes.

The Irons are yet to replace the Portuguese midfielder with Nuno Espirito Santo likely to want more bodies in his squad.

Deossa is an affordable option, but the Hammers will also have to see if he is open to a move to E20.

At Betis, he is set to feature in the Champions League, while he would be dropping to the second-tier of England with this transfer.
