Harry Maguire told to join West Ham United by Neil Moxley amid ‘trouble’ at Manchester United
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been told to join West Ham United by Neil Moxley amid “trouble” with the fans at Old Trafford.
The England defender had looked close to joining David Moyes’ side this summer, with the Hammers agreeing a transfer fee with the Red Devils, but a move looks to have fallen through with Maguire instead deciding to stay at Old Trafford.
Maguire wasn’t included in the United squad for their defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday (19 August) and as he seems to have fallen down the pecking order, Moxley believes he needs a fresh start away from Manchester United.

The journalist wrote in the Sunday People‘s print edition (20 August) suggesting the defender: “Would be best served by a move away from Manchester United. He’s not their first choice, he’s having trouble with the fans.
“Whatever the finances, he needs to make a switch happen.”
Too late
David Moyes is a big admirer of Maguire and wanted his services at the London Stadium desperately this summer and if he changed his mind on a move to West Ham the manager may well push to reignite the move before the transfer deadline.
But it looks as though the Irons have moved onto new opportunities rather than waiting for Maguire to change his mind this summer, with a move for Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos getting closer as the Hammers aim to reinforce their backline.

For Maguire, it does seem as though the opportunity presented to him by Moyes’ side would have made perfect sense as he would have remained in the Premier League with a competitive side while playing European football and kept his international career alive.
This feels as though it could be a deal that if it doesn’t occur between now and the 1 September deadline may rumble on until the January transfer window opens, with the England defender seemingly well down the pecking order in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
It would be naive to rule out seeing Maguire lining up at the London Stadium in the future.
In other West Ham news, the third signing of the summer is on the way as a defender is due for a medical on Sunday
