Harry Maguire gets payout to join West Ham as Manchester United transfer news emerges
Manchester United have paid Harry Maguire a sum of £6million to leave the club, with a £30million move to West Ham edging ever closer, according to The Sun.
The newspaper reported on 10 August that Maguire will take an estimated £70,000 pay cut to join the Hammers on £120,000-a-week, with Manchester United making the payment to offset that loss and support his exit from the club in the coming days.
It has been shared that Maguire decided to leave Manchester having accepted his time was up when he was stripped of the captain’s armband, which was then given to Bruno Fernandes.

Maguire was booed by his own fans in Dublin after a mistake allowed Athletic Bilbao to score the opener in their friendly game last weekend.
West Ham getting a very good deal
As much as Maguire has become somewhat of a joke among football fans of late, he has been treated incredibly harshly and remains a top player. His importance to the English national team and continual service under Gareth Southgate have exemplified his ability despite facing setbacks in Manchester.
In West Ham’s set-up, everything is in place for Maguire to thrive. A deeper block with less reliance on him bringing the ball out of defence, where he will be able to sit and cover, will suit his game perfectly.
David Moyes’ assistance on set pieces being a huge part of his side’s game in East London will also be a huge benefit to Maguire, who provides plenty of aerial threat and could be key for Moyes’ style.

For a fee of £30million and taking a significant wage cut, West Ham are definitely getting the better end of this deal, with an England regular and proven leader joining the club. A fresh start could be exactly what Maguire needs to kickstart his career.
In other West Ham news, one star is “very keen” to leave the club amid huge interest.
