Harry Maguire friends share West Ham United transfer update to Sky Sports News as loan talk emerges
Harry Maguire will not be signing for West Ham United on loan from Manchester United this month, according to Sky Sports News.
The Mirror reported on Tuesday (17 January) that the Irons are considering a swoop to sign the 29-year-old centre-back on loan for the rest of the season.
However, Sky Sports News “has been told by friends of the player” that West Ham are “flying a kite” if they think they can sign the experienced England international.

The broadcaster reported via their live transfer blog on Wednesday (18 January, 12:03pm) that while Maguire has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, he is “determined” to work his way back into Erik ten Hag’s side.
Worth a try
We’ve seen that under-fire players at Man United can flourish elsewhere.
Jesse Lingard’s loan spell at the London Stadium a couple of seasons ago is a good example and it’s why West Ham fans shouldn’t scoff at the idea of signing Maguire, who was one of England’s best players at the World Cup in Qatar.
While we admit that he’s been woeful for Man United in recent seasons and doesn’t really deserve to be playing for them, he’d be an excellent signing for pretty much all Premier League teams outside of the so-called big six.

West Ham could do with the reinforcements in defence too, especially if Craig Dawson leaves the London Stadium to join Wolves this month.
Dawson’s been strongly linked with a move to Molineux for a while because the ex-West Brom defender wants to go back to the West Midlands to be nearer his family.
That’s fair enough but we cannot let him go without finding a replacement first and Maguire would not only be a replacement for Dawson, but he could also potentially be an upgrade.
It might be one to keep an eye on for the summer though – provided we avoid relegation of course.
