Harry Maguire could now join Everton after Man United man rejected West Ham United in 2023

Manchester United could use West Ham-linked ace Harry Maguire to secure the signing of Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, according to Daily Star.

The newspaper reported via its website [5 May] that the 21-year-old centre-back is a top target at Old Trafford and Sir Jim Radcliffe could use Maguire to fund a deal, with the player rated at £70million.

It is understood that the Hammers had a £20million bid rejected for the England international last summer, as per Sky Sports, and the interest in Maguire has remained at the London Stadium.

West Ham United target set to leave Old Trafford

It is certainly commendable that Maguire wanted to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place in the squad, and he has done exactly that after a torrid few months of criticism.

Those at West Ham will still feel it was a missed transfer, especially with how he has performed for Man United in recent weeks, with a key leadership role still at the club.

David Moyes’ centre-backs have experienced their fair share of criticism too, with Konstantinos Mavropanos and Kurt Zouma being shredded by the media after each poor result.

However, if Maguire is said to be a potential option this summer, with the defender being used for a swap deal with Everton, the Londoners may think about swooping in with a deal of their own.

West Ham

West Ham will definitely be targeting some defensive reinforcements and, even at 31 years of age, Maguire is still capable of a full season and would add a lot of experience to the backline.

With over 200 appearances for the Red Devils and 63 caps for England, many of which as captain, one club will be reasonably lucky to land Maguire’s signature if he is to depart Old Trafford this summer.

In other West Ham news, the club have been labelled “embarrassing” for the treatment of Moyes.
