Guido Rodriguez West Ham future now surely sealed after latest transfer news

West Ham United have had quite a strange campaign this season with the club currently sitting 14th in the Premier League.

Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui spent big in the summer but things haven’t quite gone to plan.

While some of their arrivals have taken like ducks to water, others have taken longer with some still not settled in full just yet.

And, after a new report from Spanish outlet InfoRealBetis (23 December), it seems like one of their summer arrivals is already set to leave.

The report also adds that the Irons and Guido Rodriguez have already reached an agreement for his departure in January.

Rodriguez’s preferred destination is a return to Real Betis with the La Liga side currently keeping a “close eye” on his situation.

However, the chance of a return mainly depends on whether his exit from the London Stadium will cost the club anything as Manuel Pellegrini’s side doesn’t want to spend any money on the move.

West Ham United should sanction the sale of Guido Rodriguez

When Rodriguez was given his first couple of games in a Hammers shirt he seemed like he was more than capable of playing in the Premier League but as time went on, it became evident he wasn’t quite up to the task.

One of the Hammers’ main problems this season has been their lack of strength in midfield as Julen Lopetegui’s men have often been overpowered by their opponents.

Since the Argentina international has been dropped to the bench by the Spaniard, rumours around his future have been circling and at the moment, it feels likely that he’s going to depart the London Stadium in the near future.

The Hammers have the likes of Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez who Lopetegui seems to prefer at the moment and even if they don’t earn any money from his sale, the wages they’d get off their total bill would no doubt help them recruit someone to replace him in January.

So, if the 2022 World Cup winner doesn’t want to stay in London and West Ham aren’t going to play him, a January move seems like the best option.
