Real Betis have made no approach to re-sign Guido Rodriguez from West Ham United in the January transfer window, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish sports newspaper reported via their website on 1 December that both the La Liga club and the player's entourage deny any contact over a transfer.

While a return to Seville is not 100 per cent ruled, the Argentina international finds himself in an "unthinkable" situation, with the Irons open to offloading him just four months after signing him.

Rodriguez joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer after seeing a proposed transfer to Barcelona fall through.

The East London outfit, meanwhile, snapped the 30-year-old up at Julen Lopetegui's behest, making him one of their 10 signings of the transfer window.

However, the Spanish tactician himself appears to have shunned Rodriguez, who started both of West Ham's last two games on the bench.

The Irons are prepared to sell the former River Plate star in January as long as they do not lose any of the money they spent on agent fees and signing-on bonuses.

However, with Real Betis denying any contact with the player, the midfielder is now in limbo at the London Stadium ahead of the January transfer window.

It remains to be seen if the situation changes in the coming weeks, with Rodriguez informing those close to him that he is keen on a return to his former club [InfoRealBetis].
