‘Grealish deal is on’ after what West Ham insider has heard

West Ham could be set to sign England international Jack Grealish this summer.

The Hammers are looking to make a splash in the market following the departure of Mohammed Kudus, who signed for Tottenham in a deal worth around £55million.

The arrival of Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf was confirmed on Tuesday, but West Ham are now set to push on in their pursuit of several more signings.

Graham Potter will hope to bolster his front line before the season starts, with the former Chelsea boss keen for his side to hit the ground running.

West Ham target Grealish

Grealish is expected to leave Manchester City this summer after facing limited game time in Pep Guardiola’s squad last season.

The 29-year-old was the subject of a British record transfer fee when he made the switch to The Etihad in 2021, signing from Aston Villa for £100m.

But the Englishman has never managed to recapture the form that led to that move – a struggle often put down to the dominant nature of Guardiola’s tactics.

A move to West Ham could see Grealish placed back in an environment better suited to his skillset, and according to insider ExWHUEmployee, the Hammers are interested in the player.

He told The West Ham Way (July 18) that Potter is a fan of the winger, who would be keen on a loan move to The London Stadium this summer.

But the finances involved would be difficult for West Ham, with a compromise on his wages and the loan fee required if any deal is to go through.

Grealish could be fantastic for West Ham

In the two years before his move to Manchester City, Grealish had established himself among the most exciting players in English football.

Capable of single-handedly changing games for Villa, the winger often seemed unstoppable with the ball at his feet.

And when in the final third, Grealish would, almost always, find the final action to devastating effect.

A move to West Ham could spark the 29-year-old back into life, should Potter return to him the free rein to pick up the ball and run at his man.

Paired with Jarrod Bowen, the two could form a deadly partnership that would once again see exciting attacking football return to The London Stadium.
