Gianluca Scamacca transfer update as Roma contract clause emerges for West Ham striker
West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca remains a top transfer target for Jose Mourinho’s Roma, with the forward keen on a move back to Italy, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Reportedly, the Italian giants have reiterated their interest in their primary attacking target this summer and are looking for a loan deal with an option to buy. However, the report states that the obligation may only be triggered “not on attendance, but on goals.”
Mourinho sees Scamacca as a replacement for Tammy Abraham who is likely to leave the Italian capital amid links back to the Premier League [The Telegraph], but West Ham are not best pleased with the formula.

Good deal for all
Scamacca failed to live up to expectations at the London Stadium. The Italian played just 16 games in the league for the Hammers and seven in Europe after signing from Sassuolo last summer.
With an overall goal tally of just 6 in all competitions, it may be fair to say that it is best for both parties that Scamacca moves away from the Europa Conference League champions for a return to Serie A.
Scamacca has proven himself in the Italian top-flight having scored 16 league goals in the season before his move to West Ham.
Roma’s general manager Tiago Pinto has reportedly put a deadline of 10 July to sign Scamacca but failed to agree on a loan without an obligation to buy [Tuttosport].
Now, if this reported clause materialises, Roma may only have to shell out for Scamacca if he is prolific enough and proves his worth to the club, something that may need to change.

While the report does not state how many goals Scamacca would need to score, this may cause West Ham to reconsider such a deal as it does not guarantee they can sell on the player.
Roma’s reported dedication to signing their man will play in West Ham’s favour. They could offload the 24-year-old and would hope to recoup some of the £35.5million transfer fee.
It is in both the club’s and Scamacca’s best interest that they part ways this window, and with genuine interest from Roma, West Ham may have the perfect suitors.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are one of many clubs interested in Swiss youngster.
