Gianluca Scamacca transfer to AC Milan ‘unlikely’ due to West Ham United valuation

AC Milan are “unlikely” to sign West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca in the summer transfer window due to his price tag of £35-40million, according to Calciomercato.

Pianeta Milan, a website affiliated with Gazzetta Dello Sport, reported (2 March) that the Italian forward wants a return to the Serie A after struggling to adapt to life at the London Stadium this season.

The £35.5million summer signing has found the back of the net just seven times in all competitions for David Moyes’ side and hasn’t featured in the Premier League since mid-January after falling beneath Danny Ings and Michail Antonio in the pecking order.

Calciomercato have now shared that a move back to the Serie A club is “unlikely at the moment” due to West Ham’s valuation of the striker which stands at a minimum of £35-40million.

Italian giants AC Milan have also made “no contact to bring him to the Rossoneri” despite looking to sign a centre-forward in the summer as an alternative option to Olivier Giroud.

Awkward situation

Whether West Ham United would sanction Scamacca’s exit is still questionable, but they would at least want to break even on their £35.5million investment if he were to leave in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old’s torrid time at the London Stadium has gone from bad to worse recently, with his agency dropping him due to a lack of trust and the striker struggling to even make it onto the pitch for Moyes in the Premier League.

The January recruitment of Ings from Aston Villa was a clear sign that Scamacca wasn’t making the grade at the London Stadium, and even Antonio – who has struggled for goals all season – is recently starting ahead of the Italian.

However, with no agent at his disposal, the former Sassuolo player can’t even start to consider brokering a summer exit from West Ham. Right now, Scamacca needs to get his head down and focus on restoring West Ham’s confidence on him by scoring goals on the pitch.

There is still time to restore Moyes’ wavering trust, but Scamacca needs to get back in the goals, and sharpish.
