Gianluca Scamacca to travel to London on Monday to complete West Ham United transfer

Gianluca Scamacca is due to fly in to London on Monday to complete his £35m move to West Ham, according to a report by journalist Matteo Moretto.

The Hammers are close to completing a deal for the Italian international after agreeing a fee with Serie A club Sassuolo for the 23-year-old, who scored 16 goals last season.

Now a deal is edging even closer to completion, with Relevo reporting that the player will travel to the capital on Monday [July 25] to undergo a medical and complete the move.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Moretto said; “Scamacca to West Ham: the player will NOT travel to London today [Sunday, July 24]. Starting tomorrow, everything will be ready.”

Movement

The striker search at the London Stadium is one that has been ongoing for a while, but it finally looks as though we’re reaching the end of the chase.

Armando Broja had been the number one target for David Moyes, but with Chelsea being difficult about doing a deal West Ham have made the right decision and moved on to other targets, beating out Paris Saint-Germain to bring Scamacca in.

West Ham

He’ll now have two weeks or so to train with the team and get fit to try and force his way into the starting line-up for the opening game of the season against Man City.

The likelihood is that Michail Antonio will get the nod early on because of his experience within the team, but when West Ham spend £35m on a player it’s so that he can become a key player for the team.

Now we can focus on other areas of the team to strengthen for the season, knowing the priority positions have been filled.
