Gianluca Scamacca snubs AC Milan as West Ham United star bids to live closer to mother
West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is rejecting the overtures of AC Milan and wants to join Roma in order to be nearer to his mother, according to calciomercato.com.
The Italy striker looks to be headed back to Italy after just one season in the Premier League with the Hammers, who he joined from Sassuolo in a deal that could reportedly have been worth £35.5million (Sky Sports).
Milan were one of the names linked with a move, but Scamacca’s mother and other family members live in Italy’s capital, hence his preference to link up with Jose Mourinho at the Stadio Olimpico.

Calciomercato reports that West Ham still want any loan move to include an obligation to buy, even though they are set to land a £105million windfall with the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal.
Roma would prefer any future fee to be optional, but Scamacca is said to be interested only in joining Roma.
It just hasn’t happened
West Ham have had issues with strikers for a number of years and Scamacca is the latest forward who just simply has not hit the heights with the Hammers.
Scamacca had scored 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances prior to moving to London, but he netted just three times in 16 Premier League appearances last term.

Injuries and form hindered his campaign, and it is little surprise in truth that he wants to return to Italy, and it makes sense that after a difficult 12 months he would want to have the comfort of his family around him.
For West Ham, the immediate focus is on adding reinforcements. Scamacca’s exit will obviously not be felt as keenly as Rice’s, but he leaves a void in the squad nonetheless.
It means David Moyes is looking at a minimum of a midfielder and striker this window, and no doubt he will want to strengthen other areas too ahead of featuring in the Europa League this term.
In other West Ham news, Paul Nevin is now considering departing in the latest exit from the London Stadium.
