Gianluca Scamacca signs pact to quit West Ham United, he does not want to break it – Di Marzio

Gianluca Scamacca’s priority is to quit West Ham and return to Rome this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist posted on his official website (27 June) that Scamacca has a pact with Roma’s director of football Tiago Pinto to return to the club he supports, where he played in the youth teams, and does not want to break it.

Scamacca is keen on making this move as long as West Ham and Roma can agree a deal. However, while the Giallorossi remain his priority, he would not turn down a move to Milan.

The striker has spent just one season in the Premier League after arriving from Sassuolo last summer, and has struggled to settle well into life at West Ham, scoring just eight times in 27 appearances for the club – with only three of his goals coming in the Premier League.

Wasted potential

It is fair to say that Scamacca has been a disappointing signing for West Ham.

West Ham

He arrived in a big-money switch from Italy with a lot of excitement around him and has simply not lived up to the expectations by any stretch of the imagination.

At the age of 24, there is still plenty of time for the player to fulfil his potential, but it is clear that he is not keen on doing that in England and not willing to give himself another chance to succeed with West Ham.

It is a real shame that things have worked out the way they have and many fans will be frustrated to see him leave without really giving the club a chance. There is certainly potential that could ultimately be discovered with a move to Roma. Head coach Jose Mourinho has a fantastic history with strikers and could transform Scamacca.

If the player wants to leave, West Ham should let him go, they will just hope to be able to claw back some of the money spent on him.

In other West Ham news, another star’s future looks very close to now being resolved.
