Gianluca Scamacca reliant on Divock Origi to achieve Roma dream as West Ham transfer update emerges
West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is relying on a new forward to join the club to get his move to Roma, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian news outlet reported online (23 July) that the Hammers could make a move for out-of-favour AC Milan forward Divock Origi.
A deal for Chelsea striker Armando Broja has reportedly cooled and David Moyes has now turned his attention to the 28-year-old Belgian, who has played in the Premier League before with Liverpool.

Once a deal for a striker is agreed upon, the Hammers are more likely to let Scamacca go to Roma, who are interested in a loan with an option to buy while West Ham would prefer an obligation to purchase.

If Scamacca wants to leave the London Stadium then this transfer triangle makes sense, and it could also work out very well in the favour of the East London side.
Both parties would get what they want, Scamacca a move back to his native Italy, while the Hammers would get an unhappy player off their books for the season (and potentially long term), while bringing in another forward.

Origi also has experience in the Premier League from his time with Liverpool and was a key part of their Champions League victory in 2019, and and Moyes would like to use the Belgian’s knowledge of England’s top flight to his favour.
Many strikers have moved to West Ham and struggled to adapt to the club, often performing in a very underwhelming manner, however in Origi they know exactly what they’re getting and could finally end their miserable streak of number nines.
With Scamacca and Antonio both potentially off, this signing should be a priority for the club.
In other West Ham news, another senior player could be close to leaving the club.
