Gianluca Scamacca not short of suitors with West Ham United summer exit on the cards – journalist
West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca is expected to seal his London Stadium departure this summer and won’t be “short of suitors” despite a poor Premier League campaign, according to journalist Ryan Taylor.
The Italian forward has underwhelmed since making his £35.5million switch from Sassuolo last summer, scoring just three goals in the league from 16 appearances.
The Hammers have reportedly not been impressed with Scamacca’s form with “divorce in the air” and a loan-to-buy agreement on the cards. [Calcio Mercato, 28 February]

A mix of injuries and bad form have resulted in David Moyes chopping and changing the 24-year-old out of his starting line-up, but Daily Express journalist Taylor believes that this poor form wouldn’t have resulted in his price tag plummeting.
He told GiveMeSport: “I feel like it would be quite easy for him to potentially leave because I don’t think he’ll be short of suitors.
“Obviously, PSG were sniffing around and top Italian clubs would definitely take him. I don’t think his value would have decreased too much.
“I’m interested to see how it works out. If I had to make a call on that, I’d say that I would expect him to leave.”

Stay put
The Premier League is often dubbed as the hardest league to adjust to for foreign players.
This couldn’t have been more true for Scamacca since making his marquee summer move. The Italian has looked like a shadow of the player West Ham United thought they were buying, the club must give him time to prove his worth at the London Stadium.
Often the first season of a big-money signing can be a transitional season, and the Hammers have to believe that the goals will start to flow for Scamacca soon.
With Danny Ings preferring to play in a front two, it does make perfect sense to line the two attackers up together – something that Moyes hasn’t turned to yet.
Although a host of Serie A clubs would be happy to splash out for the centre-forward, the Hammers must remain patient that their scouting system have hand-picked a good player. With a relegation battle very much on the cards over the coming months, Scamacca could yet play a huge role in the outcome of the Irons’ season.
