Gianluca Scamacca first-choice striker target for West Ham United
West Ham have made Gianluca Scamacca their first-choice target for the striker position this summer, according to a report by The Guardian.
It was reported on Tuesday July 12th that the Hammers had made a bid of €40m (£33.7m) plus €7m (£5.9m) in bonuses for the Italian international, which Sassuolo had accepted [Alfredo Pedulla].
And it’s now being reported that the 23-year-old, who hit 16 goals in Serie A during the 2021/22 season, has emerged as the club’s first-choice target as David Moyes looks to bolster his striker selection.

Writing in their article on their website, The Guardian say; “Moyes is, though, in the market for a striker, with Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca his first choice.”
Armando Broja had previously been reported to be the club’s first-choice, but the club are struggling to agree a deal with Chelsea for the Albanian and have seemingly moved on to a new target.
Quick
For once it seems that West Ham aren’t wasting time by dithering on transfers and waiting for one specific player, and instead are trying to bolster the squad by any means necessary.
Scamacca is a brilliant talent and at 23-years-old and coming off a fine goalscoring season, the Hammers have identified him as someone that will improve the current squad.

It will be tough for them to convince him to join the club over Paris Saint-Germain, who are also said to be interested in the Italian international, but an agreement with the selling club is in place and that’s progress.
Now they can work towards convincing the player that he will suit England well and can continue his development as a starter at the London Stadium, while Chelsea continue to take an eternity to make a decision.
It could be a ploy to speed Chelsea up in negotiations, but it seems more likely at this stage that the club have pivoted and are now targeting a fresh name to strengthen their squad.
